Advocacy Officer (Volunteer Role)

About the Role


We are looking for a passionate and proactive Advocacy Officer to support WITI’s advocacy efforts and campaigns. This role is ideal for someone vocal, confident in expressing ideas, and able to communicate effectively with different audiences.

The Advocacy Officer will play a key role in driving conversations, raising awareness, and supporting initiatives that advance the rights and well-being of marginalized women and girls. As we will be implementing several advocacy-focused projects, the selected individual must have a clear understanding of advocacy—what it means, how it works, and how to engage stakeholders meaningfully.

 

This role requires someone who is based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, as some activities may involve in-person engagement, community interactions, and on-ground coordination.

Key Responsibilities
   •    Support the planning and execution of advocacy campaigns
   •    Contribute to content development (e.g., messaging, social media, outreach materials)
   •    Engage with stakeholders and support partnership-building efforts
   •    Represent WITI in relevant spaces when required
   •    Assist with research and documentation related to advocacy work

What We’re Looking For
   •    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
   •    Someone confident, vocal, and able to express ideas clearly
   •    A good understanding of advocacy and social impact work
   •    Passion for advancing the rights of LBQT+ women
   •    Ability to work collaboratively within a team
   •    Must be based in Port Harcourt, Rivers State

   •   Preferably identifies as an LBQT+ woman or a GNC individual.
